While Isles continues to honor and celebrate his inspirations, he pays them homage by using their innovations to go deeper and wider, expanding the music's reach." - Thom Jurek, All Music Trumpeter Nabaté Isles makes his Smoke debut leading this exciting sextet with clarinetist and saxophonist Don Byron, guitarist Paul Bollenback, pianist Manuel Valera, bassist Eric Wheeler and drummer Abe Fogle. A Grammy-winning trumpeter as well as a composer, producer and educator, Isles was born and raised in New York City and recently released a new abum called "En Motion," which features the core lineup of Sam Barsh, Eric Harland, Kaveh Rastegar, David Gilmore and Rachel Eckroth, as well as guests include James Francies, Ben Wendel, Victor Provost, Sasha Berliner, and Badia Farha. It also features Mumu Fresh, Kardinal Offishall, and Chuck D. Isles has performed, toured or recorded with The Fugees, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), Christian McBride, Robert Glasper, Harry Belafonte, Savion Glover, Oliver Lake, Steve Coleman, Ravi Coltrane, Mike Longo, Charli Persip, Santi Debriano, the Mingus Big Band, and the José Limon Dance Company. He provided trumpet instruction to actor Rob Brown for his role as trumpeter Delmond Lambreaux on the HBO series, ‘Treme’. Nabaté was part of three Christian McBride Big Band’s Grammy-winning albums as well as the band’s performance at the White House for the last concert under President Barack Obama’s administration.
