Charles Owens Quartet featuring Brad Mehldau Cover

“A player of irresistible warmth.” – The Times of London Charles Owens – tenor saxophone Brad Mehldau – piano Alexander Claffy – bass Adam Arruda– drums Tenor saxophonist Charles Owens returns to New York City, where he was a major contributor and vital part of the scene in the early 1990s and 2000s. Now based in Richmond, Virginia, Owens remains a powerful and adventurous performer whose playing is steeped in tradition but that explores new material from unexpected sources like Anita Baker, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin. Downbeat says, “Charles Owens can blow — fast, furious, and flowing — with just the right dollop of soul.” He has recorded nine albums as a leader and has performed with Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Brian Blade, Peter Bernstein, Larry Goldings, Jeff Watts, and Joel Frahm, among many others. Owens will be joined by an exciting quartet featuring the pianist and special guest Brad Mehldau with bassist Alexander Claffy and drummer Adam Arruda.
